Minister Amongi launches the Women Peace Secuirty II program 2022-2026.


The Minister of gender, labour and social development has today launched the second women, peace and security program 2022-2026 with the commitment of prioritising  sustainable and inclusive peace and security for women in Uganda.


She enumerated the various program government has undertaken to address issues of peace and security including:- Localising UN security council resolutions 1325, scaling programs to address GBV, Scaling multi-sectoral approach to enhance access to justice by women continuing to implement an open door policy on refugees. 


"I have hope that the women and girls will be positively impacted, empowered, engaged women who shall enjoy human rights, peace, Justice and Security." -Amongi.



She called  on CSO to work with cultural and religious institutions since they are the gatekeepers for social rules can either protect or undermine women's attainment of peace.

Lifetime Physical and/or Sexual Intimate Partner Violence :49.9 % 

Physical and/or Sexual Intimate Partner Violence in the last 12 months : 29.9 %

Child Marriage :34 % 

Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting :0.3 %
