"Stand bold, Don't be compromised"- Lord Mayor Lukwago to Newly appointed Public Accounts Committee




The Kampala lord mayor Erias Lukwago has called upon members of the Public Accounts Committee not to accept to be compromised.


He made his call during the inauguration of this committee at city hall saying that many officials would wish to compromise them once they discover some irregularities.

The five-member committee that was appointed by the lord mayor Erias Lukwago was approved by the state minister for  Kampala Christopher abuse kyofatobygabye this week.


The members are Bob kabaziguruka the chairperson, Mariam Namwanje ,Micheal Tujetwena,Sarah ssanyu and Abdul Nasser Ntege.


According to section 58(9) of the KCCA Act ,the committee shall examine the reports of the auditor general ,chief internal auditor and any report of the commissions inquiry and may in relation to the reports require the attendance of any councillors or officer to explain matters arising from the reports.



They are required to serve for five years but can be reappointed for an extra 5year term.


Lukwago appealed to the commiitte to investigate contracts for the implementation of civil works under the Kampala city roads rehabilitation project worth 1 trillion which was secured as a loan from the African development bank for construction of roads and drainages


The executive director of KCCA Dorothy kisaka welcomed the committee members and advised them to ensure that their is value for money in all the 10 directorates of the authority and also ensuring that the smart city agenda  is achieved.


The smart city agenda is driven by three pillars that include leveraging technology, infrastructural development and the people well being in the city.


The chairperson of the public accounts committee Bob Kabaziguruka vowed to investigate issues that have failed Kcca to deliver its mandate to the people.
