The United States has put Uganda on notice that it risks losing $400 million (Shs1.4 trillion) in Washington’s annual support to HIV/Aids care and treatment over the Anti-Homosexuality Bill.
What you need to Know.
Members of the parliament of Uganda recently overwhelmingly passed the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2023.
The bill was then sent to President Yoweri Kaguta M7 for approval, surprisingly president M7 turned it down after being advised by the attorney General.
According to President M7, the bill had loopholes that needed more reviews before he signs it into law.
Last week, President M7 and all members of NRM converged at Kololo ceremonial grounds to have final decisions on the bill.
The president then met with the parliamentary legal committee at Entebbe state house, where he suggested that the bill bounces back to parliament for review.
This has left many Ugandans in suspense and the bill returns in parliament for review.
