In her communication, Speaker Rt. Hon. Anitah Among expressed displeasure with the unfortunate practice where people celebrate the misfortune of those they don’t agree with." It is inhuman, uncultured, and very immoral to celebrate the death of anyone because you hold different or divergent views" She said.
Prime Minister and Leader of government business, Rt. Hon Robinah Nabbanja who presented a motion to pay tribute to late Charles Engola, said the fallen minister answered the highest call of serving his country as a professional soldier.
The Premier described late Engola as a war hero who played a fundamental role in the pacification of Northern Uganda against the LRA insurgency and acquired the name, “Macodwogo” meaning, “fire has returned.”
Lead of opposition, Hon. MathiasMpuuga says that Engola’s murder by his bodyguard is a wake-up call to government to scale up investment and increased access to mental health services.
Engola was killed by his body guard Wilson Sabiiti, before he turned the gun on himself in a salon in Kyanja, northeast of Kampala.
The motive behind the gruesome murder of the minister is still a subject of investigation.
