Kampala capital city authority ( KCCA) improving youth livelihoods by skilling through its Directorate of Gender community services and production.
In an exclusive interview with our reporters, the director of gender & community service Sheila Birungi told us that this program is to improve on the youth livelihood.
"At KCCA Kabalagala One Stop Youth Center is where you find cost free initiatives, by creating space for the out of school young people especially job seekers , to creatively engage in skilling programs geared towards improving their labour market profile , income enhancememt and social-economic well being"- Birungi.
The center has to date, supported over 700 beneficiaries through different cohorts with various vocational and artisanship literacy skills. The skills include hair dressing , cosmetology , digital technologies ( photography graphics and videography ), solar baking, shoe and bag making and Briquettes.
Additionally, all beneficiaries under go sessions in financial literacy, book keeping, bussiness management skills , entrepreneurship, and life skills.
KCCA appreciates the support from government of Uganda and other development partners who have come through to support the out of school and unemployed young people.
To further enhance the program and enlarge our reach out , the Center is incorporating recreational sports and all forms performing Arts for the young people.
Visit and send youths to the KCCA kabalagala youth centre, to engage them in productive activity that will protect them from negative muladaptive behavior.
