Former FDC Aspirant crosses to NRM After losing the just concluded Bukedea LC5 By-Election.


Former aspirant in the just concluded Bukedea LC 5 By-election, Mr. Sam Oita has crossed from Forum For Democratic party (FDC) to National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

Oit was welcomed by the Vice Chairperson Eastern, Capt. Mike .



Captain Mike Mukula confirmed this news via his twitter official account.

"I had the opportunity to receive the former FDC aspirant Bukedea LC 5 Sam Oita to the NRM party and Comrade Omagor also aspirant Lc 5 independent .
Bukedea remains solidly behind NRM"- Captain Mukula.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

On the 15th of june 2023, the Returning Officer, Bukedea District, Mugyenyi Joel Mugerwa declared Akol Mary winner of the Bukedea District Chairperson by-election.


Akol Mary, the NRM candidate won the race with 79692 votes, Lokwesiik Tichicus Ebukalin second with 4941 votes and in third position was FDC's candidate Sam Oita, who scored 2343 votes.

Though the FDC candidate, Mr Sam Oita opted to pull out of the elections few hours of the voting process claiming NRM was cheating.

According to the electoral commission Chairperson, Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, the election process was free and fair.

The position fell vacant after the passing on of Moses Alemukan, 49, who died on the 17th of December 2022 at Mulago cancer institute.
