Parliament introduces Biometric machines to monitor MPs Attendance - Speaker Among promises tough punishments.

In order to monitor the attendance of legislators in the 11th parliament, the August house has finally procured thumb biometric machines to register their attendance.

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Anita Among has informed the House that the MPs will now start using the biometric register that captures their attendance and that of ministers.

This was during her today's opening remarks in parliament as it resumes its work after a one month recess.

"We shall start publishing the attendance register as part of our accountability" - Among.

The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among has always lashed out at Members of Parliament for their continued absence from Committee sessions and plenary proceedings.

The Speaker noted that Parliament will start issuing warning letters to MPs who continuously dodge committee sessions and plenary proceedings.

“We are going to give you warning letters, I have a list of MPs who attend committees, and I already have a list of MPs who attend Plenary,” Among said in the 29th seating.
