Following the presidential directive on all Kampala city markets, the Kampala capital City council (KCCA) administration has embarked on implementing the presidential directives in the 16 markets including the city abature "Lufula".
While meeting the markets' leadership at City hall over the weekend, the KCCA Executive Director, Dr. Dorothy Kisaka, challenged the staff to desist from corruption tendencies in revenue collection and observe a strict code of ethics required of a public Servant.
The areas of concern are utility charges, revenue collection, law enforcement, sanitation and hygiene and overall administration
"I call up on all KCCA staff working in markets to exercise professionalism in the execution of their duties in the markets" -Kisaka.
KCCA took over the administration of the markets in 2022. These markets serve as a trading space to over 20000 market vendors.
ED Kisaka further called up on and urged Street vendors to get back to the rightful trading space and vacate the streets.
According to ED - Kisaka, all KCCA markets leaders will be absorbed into the public service so long as they meet the required standards set by the Ministry of Public Service.
Kisaka thanked the market Masters and administrators, urging them to exercise leadership as people of integrity executing their duties diligently in accordance with the new Market Law.
The meeting was attended by the KCCA Directors, managers, and supervisor.
