Minister of Gender, labour and social development, Hon. Minister Amongi Betty applauds H.E the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for championing political tolerance as she chairs ABETO award ceremony.
Today, on the 20th of July 2023, the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development, Amongi Betty Ongom, chaired the prestigious ABETO Award ceremony, where commendations were bestowed upon exemplary Ugandans who have demonstrated remarkable efforts in promoting tolerance and peaceful coexistence within their respective fields.
During the momentous gathering, Minister Betty Amongi took
the opportunity to commend H.E. President Y. K. Museveni as the true champion
of tolerance and peaceful coexistence. She applauded the President's policies
and actions, which have effectively integrated divergent political, religious,
cultural, and other forms of diversity into the governance of Uganda. She noted
that this inclusive approach has been pivotal in fostering harmonious relations
and societal cohesion.
Emphasizing the government's commitment to ensuring equal
representation, Minister Amongi commended the involvement of women, youth,
persons with disabilities, older persons, and workers at all levels of
leadership across Uganda. She stated that the deliberate effort to include
diverse sectors in governance has been a testament to the government's
dedication to galvanizing inclusivity and participation for all Ugandans.
In her address to the awardees, Minister Amongi extended
her heartfelt congratulations and urged them to anchor their work in
implementing the constitutional provisions that address inclusion, diversity,
and affirmative action for all sectors of the economy. By doing so, she
emphasized, the awardees would continue to contribute significantly to the
advancement of peace and coexistence in Uganda.
Among those honored at the ceremony were prominent
figures, including the Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Hon. Ruth
Nankabirwa, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr. Musenero
Monicah, Lady Justice Francis Abodo, the Director of Public Prosecution, and
the Uganda Revenue Authority Commissioner General, John Musinguzi Rujoki, among others.
