The Minister of Gender lebour and social development, Hon. Betty Amongi Akena has launched the Parish development model (PDM) loan distribution in Kwania District and applauds beneficiaries for high Uptake.
While speaking at the function during the lauching, the Minister Betty Amongi Akena applauded the district officials of Kwania for implementation of PDM which is aimed at deepening the decentralization process, improving household incomes; enabling inclusive, sustainable, balanced and equitable socio-economic transformation; and increasing accountability at local levels.
Hon Amongi also implored beneficiaries to thank President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the initiative aimed at reaching the lowest strata of society.
She opened up that the Model positions is anchored at the PARISH as the epicenter of multi-sectoral community development, planning, implementation, supervision and accountability. It was because the Parish is the lowest reference unit for planning, budgeting and delivery of interventions to drive socio-economic transformation.
"I implored people to use PDM to create Wealth, Employment and increase Household Incomes with seven Pillars of:
(1) Production, Storage, Processing and Marketing;
(2) Infrastructure and Economic Services;
(3) Financial Inclusion;
(4) Social Services;
(5) Mindset change;
(6) Parish Based Management Information System
(7) Governance and Administration.
"I appealed beneficiaries to utilise the fund well, on the selected priorities enterprises of coffee, Cotton, Cocoa, Cassava, Tea, Vegetable Oils (Inc. Oil Palm), Maize, Rice, Sugar Cane, Fish, Diary, Beef, Bananas, Beans, Avocado, Shea Nut, Cashew Nuts & Macadamia"- Amongi.
