Police Arrests Late Aponye's Driver over his death.

Police in Ntungamo has arrested the late Aponye's driver following investigations into unanswered questions of the recent fatal accident that claimed the life of the renowned businessman Apollo Nyegamahe killing him on spot.


His arrest follows several allegations that late Aponye's accident was planned. 


According to tentative reports by eye witnesses, they claim the late Aponye's body was lying helplessly in blood on the road yet his driver and other two occupants had no serious injuries.

The bloody incident occurred on Thursday 6th July 2023 night in Itojo, Ntungamo in south western Uganda.


Police are still investigating the circumstances under which the accident occurred.


Nyegamahe owned Aponye Ltd – Uganda’s leading grain business, Trailers, and bulidings named Aponye Malls. 


He also dealt in manufacturing  grain and  supplies, he was the main supplier of beans and posho during covid 19 pandemic after scooping a contract from OPM. 


POLICE STATEMENT REGARDING FATAL ROAD ACCIDENT CLAIMING THE LIFE OF MR. APOLLO NYEGAMEHE AKA APONYE


July 6, 2023 - At approximately 9:00 PM yesterday, a tragic road accident occurred along the Ntungamo-Mbarara Road in Itojo, resulting in the untimely demise of Mr. Apollo Nyegamehe, also known as Aponye. The incident involved two motor vehicles bearing registration numbers UBF 300Z (Land Cruiser) and UAZ 767D (FUSO).


Preliminary investigations reveal that the Land Cruiser with registration UBF 300Z, heading towards Kabale, rammed into a stationary FUSO truck registered as UAZ 767D. The FUSO truck had encountered a mechanical problem and was parked alongside the road in Itojo along the Ntungamo-Mbarara Road. Regrettably, Mr. Apollo Nyegamehe lost his life in the accident. His remains have been transferred to the mortuary at Itojo Hospital. The two injured individuals were swiftly transported to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital for immediate medical attention.
