Uganda 79-37 Singapore.
The Uganda National Netball team (She Cranes) eased past Singapore to register their first win in the 2023 Netball World Cup.
On their fourth appearance at the World Cup, She Cranes beat Singapore by a 79-37 score as they showed class to a nation ranked down them by 20 positions.
Singapore is ranked in the 29th position whereas Uganda sits in the eighth.
Fred Mugerwa opted for a start of Shadia Nassanga as Goal Attacker and Anisha Muhammad as Goal Shooter in places of captain Irene Eyaru and Mary Nuba and his decision was on spot as the pair dominated the game into a half time score of 42-18.
Uganda led the first quarter by 22-9 before registering a 20-9 score in the second quarter with Anisha Muhammad contributing to a 31 points score off the 35 attempts she had in the entire game.
Nassanga registered 12 points score off 13 attempts befor tye introduction of captain Irene Eyaru and Mary Nuba who put a 17 points score off the 19 attempts she put up in the third quarter before being withdrawn.
Margaret Bagala who started as the centre player in the game was so instrumental in the three quarters of the game before switching to playing a wing attacking role, this saw her being crowned the player of the ga e accolade. Uganda will now face New Zealand in their next game in the competition.
