Capt Mukula To Kenya Government: "Uganda Doesn’t Import Powder Milk From Overseas So As To Repackage.

The National Resistance Movement  (NRM) Vice Chairperson of Eastern Uganda and also the patron of Uganda exporters and clearing Companies has responded to Kenya's allegations of Uganda milk companies Importing powder milk from overseas, so as to repackage it and export it to Kenya.

Uganda doesn’t import powder milk from overseas so as to repackage & reexport, because we have excess raw milk in uganda that is much cheaper & we are adding value to, in any case any import of powder milk into the country would have punitive

As of December 2022, Uganda produced 3.81 billion liters of milk annually. which makes it the leading milk producer in East Africa.

It was first estimated that livestock contributed 3.4 percent to total national GDP in 2022. That estimate was later revised to about 3.8 %  By 2023, that contribution had risen to 9 percent of national GDP.

The cattle kept are predominantly indigenous breeds, accustomed to the weather and husbandry practices as practiced by the herder communities, conditions that many exotic breeds could not withstand. 

Exotic breeds have been introduced, but the majority of farms have mixed breeds, whose productivity, although higher than the traditional breeds, does not match that of the exotics.

Most of the milk is from Western Uganda which contributes 85%.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

There is friction between Kenyan Government and Brookside company LTD Uganda which deals in milk/milk products exportation to Kenya and other countries.

According to Captain Mukul, this is attributed to political fights between former president of Kenya Uhuru Kinyaata and William Ruto the current president.

WHAT YOU DID'NT KNOW.

Kenyata is the director of Brookside LTD, one of the leading milk exporting company in Kenya and East Africa. It is believed that Brookside is one of the company making huge profits for the former president, which scares president Ruto.

In Uganda, Brookside which is located in Industrial area recently had to lay off more than 50% of its employees due to restriction from Kenya, which installed an exportation bun on them since April this year.

We were also reliably informed that early this month, DCI Impounds Uganda Brookside Milk in Nairobi on Same Day Uhuru Met Museveni.

DCI is a multi-agency sting operation in kenya, it  seized more than 16 tonnes of what is rated as "illegally imported powder milk" in Nairobi A tip-off from the Kenya Dairy Board surveillance team led to the seizure of more than 16 tonnes of illegally imported powder milk in Eastleigh.

The operation was conducted by the Kenya Dairy Board, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Kenya Revenue Authority.
