FDC members seeking NUP refugee, to bow to conditions.

National Unity Platform (NUP) has set tough conditions for disgruntled Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) members who wish to join their political party.

Al-Hajji Latif Ssebaggala, the former Kawempe North Member of Parliament revealed that as a party, they cannot just allow people from other political parties to join them.

“They should know that in NUP we have laws and regulations we follow. So, before they think about joining our party, they should leave their pride in FDC,” he said.

He explained that Kira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda should know that in NUP, he is not going to be the party spokesperson as he has been in FDC because already have Joel Ssenyonyi as their party spokesperson.

He added that NUP being a young party, it is trying to build a loyal supporters base, that is why they are careful when people join them because some might be looking for political positions.

He was supported by Moses Bigirwa the NUP chief coordinator Busoga region who told theGrapevine that even though they welcome disgruntled FDC members to their party, they should come knowing that in NUP, loyalty and respect for the party principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu (Bobi Wine) is a must.

Recently, Ssemujju revealed that they will fight to force FDC president Patrick Amuriat Oboi and the party Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi out of FDC leadership, but if they lose the battle, they will surrender and join another political alternative which they will use to continue the fight against President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Sources inside Ssemujju’s camp told theGrapevine that panic is very high after Mafabi’s camp vowed to expel them from the party.

Early this week, Amuriat ordered Ssemujju; Kampala city Lord Mayor Ssalongo Erias Lukwago who also doubles as FDC vice president Buganda region; Mubarak Munyagwa Sserunga the party Acting Secretary for mobilization to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee on charges of indiscipline and putting the party’s leadership in party light.

Munyagwa told theGrapevine that he will not appear before the FDC disciplinary committee because their mandate expired.

Troubles in FDC started after Ssemujju’s camp including the party founding president Dr. Kizza Besigye accused Mafabi and Amuriat of getting billions of money from State House on orders of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to fight against NUP.

The elders committee chaired by Dr. Frank Nabwiso cleared Mafabi and other implicated party leaders on grounds that Ssemujju’s group failed to produce sufficient evidence against the accused persons.
