FDC War deepens: FDC sacks Ssemujju , appoints Yusuf Nsibambi as new party whip.

The development was announced by the party secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi in his letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annet Annita Among.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Party has this morning sacked Ssemujju Nganda as its Whip in Parliament and replaced him with Hon. Yusuf Nsibambi as the rift in the party intensifies.

The development was announced by the party secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi in his letter to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annet Annita Among.

According to Mafabi, the decision was arrived at in accordance with Section 6 (1) of the party’s constitution, which grants the party powers to replace its leaders at any deemed time. He did not, however, provide reasons for sacking Ssemujju.

The rift in the party intensified in July this year when a group of FDC leaders headed by the Kira Municipality Member of Parliament and also party spokesperson Hon Ssemujju Nganda and Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago accused the party president Patrick Amuriat Oboi (POA) and Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi of acquiring huge chunks of money, which they baptized “evil money,” from state house to help in organizing the 2021 general elections.

According to Ssemujju, the money whose accountability has never been provided to date was estimated to be in the billions.

“According to the number of cars and houses built during the time this money was received, it’s estimated in the billions,” said Ssemujju Nganda.

This mess attracted the attention of the party’s former presidential candidate, Dr. Kiiza Besigye, whose name appeared on the list of beneficiaries, having allegedly received a share of 300 million shillings.
