Impossible!, Parliament Can Not Neglect Neglect Its Mp, Be It Hon. Ssegirinya - Chris Obore.

Parliament cannot neglect any MP when they have health complications.

The director, Communication & Public Affairs Parliament of Uganda, Mr Chris Obore has clarified on the medical bill issue of Ailing Hon. Ssegirinya Mouhamed.

Obore says there is already insurance scheme for each member & immediate family. However, for any treatment outside the country , parliament only foots the medical bills upon clearance by the Medical Board as provided in law.

"For the case of Hon Mohammed Segirinya, he travelled out of the country without Medical Board clearance, without notification to the Speaker & even Leader of the Opposition. It makes it hard for parliament to process public funds for such a case"- Obore.
He furthers says the handlers of Hon Segirinya have been reaching out to parliament & this procedure was explained to them.

"To go to social media to attract public sympat hy while ignoring the law is not a good example to set"- Obore said.
He added that Indeed Hon Segirinya needs support but the handlers must be mindful of the law when it comes to public funds.

How it started:

Critically Ill Kawempe North Member of Parliament Hon Ssegirinya Muhammad claims parliament and the National Unity platform (NUP) have deliberately refused to pay his accumulating hospital bills.

According to Ssegirinya, Parliament had pledged to handle all the hospital bills including upkeep.

Before being flown to Germany last week, Ssegirinya was in Nairobi hospital for almost a week and the immediate relative revealed to us that almost 50 million shillings were spent.

Ssegirinya is currently in Germany after his health deteriorated after spending almost two years in jail.

In a phone call with us, Hon Ssegirinya alleged that he has not received any single coin from parliament or the National Unity Platform (NUP).

"I've been spending my own money yet parliament promised to facilitate everything, not even my party has helped me out financially. Things are so expensive here in Germany and I've now run out of funds" - Ssegirinya.

He further called upon the concerned authority at parliament and NUP to respond as soon as possible to avoid accumulating bills.
