The Minister of Science and Technology, Hon. Monica Musenero has
encouraged graduates at Cavendish University, to be innovators and trusted citizens
in order to develop Uganda.
Minister
Musenero was the Chief Guest at the 12th Cavendish University Graduation
which took place today 10th August 2023 at Speak Resort Hotel in Munyonyo.
“I know many
of you hated me during Covid-19 Pandemic when I always advised the president
not to lift the lockdown, but I was using my knowledge I attained from Makerere
University which saved millions of your lives” – Minister Musenero.
She further
tipped graduands from being job seekers but rather become job creators with the
knowledge they’ve acquired from the university.
“When I graduated
from Makerere University, I set my a my own life of transformation and I was
not a corrupt person, that’s why president President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni appointed
me in this ministry.
The event
was attended by a number of other institution Chancellors, professors, Politicians
and lectures, both from Uganda and other countries.
In his
speech, Former Nigeria President, HE Goodluck Johnathan who is also the
University chancellor rooted for partnerships between Academia and industry.
He called
upon the Uganda Government to create platforms for industry professionals.
“By tapping
into this vast reservoir of Knowledge and experience, graduates are better equipped
to adopt to the rapidly changing landscape and contribute meaningfully to their
respective industries”- HE Goodluck.
