JUST IN: FINALLY GENDER MINISTRY CONFIRMS JUDE MIKE MUDOMA AS UMUKUKA 3 OF BAMASABA

 The Ministry of gender labor and social development has finally confirmed Mr. Jude Mike Mudoma as the third Umukuka we' Bamasaba Cultural Institution (INZU).

• In another letter, also dated 1st August 2023, signed by Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Mr. Aggrey David Kibenge, addressed to the Executive Director of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation, Mr. Mudoma’s name was submitted for gazetting.

What You Need to Know: 

The Ministry of Gender, Labour, and social development made the gazetting in August 2023 by 4 in line with section 6 of the Cultural Leaders Act 2011.

Genesis: 

Late last month a meeting of 26 clans leaders was convened by the Umukuka Emeritus, Wilson Wamimbi Weasa on the directive of the Ministry of State for Gender and Culture Affairs Ms. Peace Mutuuzo. The meeting was resolved and chose Mr Modoma was the rightful Cultural head.

It should be noted that Confusion in Bukuka started when after the elapse of fiver year term, under the leadership of Umukuka Bob Mushikori in 2020.

Attempts to have a legitimate leader to succeed the late Bob Mushikori all hit a snag. Mushikori, culturally titled Uwelukoosi Umukuuka We Ba’Masaaba, died last year and since then, the cultural institution never elected a successor to perform cultural ceremonies as the head of the institution.

Though, the institution has been having two leaders who had imposed themselves as the legitimate Bakuuka, Including Mike Mudoma.

How did this Happen: 

It was established that after the death of Umukuka 2, Bob Mushikori, there was an illegl election which was conducted by two factions: The Wagabyalire Amram and the Jude MIke Mudoma though non was gazetted by Government due to irregularities in the election process. 

This never stopped the two from calling themselves as the elected Bakuka of Bamasaba till of recent when a new election was conducted and matters have now been resolved after ministry of gender gazetting one of them (Mike Mudoma).
