Pregnant woman knocked dead as YY Bus driver tries to dodge pothole.



A tragic incident occurred on the Arua-Nebbi highway where an expectant mother lost her life after being struck by a bus.

The bus driver reportedly swerved to avoid a pothole on the road, resulting in the unfortunate accident.


Furthermore, the bus collision led to the death of another pedestrian and left two individuals injured. The incident involved a YY bus bearing the registration number UBF 798T.

The bus was traveling from Koboko and en route to Kampala when the crash took place.

According to Sam Cekwel, a traffic officer in the West Nile Region, the driver of the bus explained that he attempted to evade the potholes on the road, but was unsuccessful.

This maneuver led to the bus hitting the two pedestrians who were walking towards it.

Ismail Juma, the manager of YY coaches in Arua, shared a similar account, stating that the bus was swerving to avoid the numerous potholes that plague the Arua-Nebbi road.

Juma mentioned that while the bus was approaching Ullepi center and the driver tried to navigate around a pothole, the unfortunate collision occurred, resulting in the fatalities of the two individuals.

The bodies of the deceased victims were transported to the Nebbi General Hospital mortuary. The two injured individuals were also taken to the same facility for medical treatment.

The Arua-Nebbi road is currently in a dire condition with an abundance of potholes, posing risks to both travelers and pedestrians who utilize it.
