President M7 Rejoices after successful AFCON bid.


President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has rejoiced after a successful AFCON bid, where Uganda was among the three countries which will host the 2027 AFCON games.


"I received good news that our joint bid with Kenya and Tanzania to host the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in 2027 was successful. I thank the organizers for putting up a good case for East Africa. This will promote our countries and positively impact our economies, especially the tourism sector"- M7.



WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Yesterday 27th September 2023, the joint bid by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania won the race for the hosting rights of the host of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).


The  Executive Committee board of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the news in Cairo, Egypt. 


Senegal, Botswana, and Egypt were vying to host the 2027 AFCON.


The committee also announced Morocco as the host of the 2025 AFCON. 


CAF President Patrice Motsepe celebrated the news saying that the “future of African football has never been brighter.”


He also suggested that an African nation will win the World Cup in the near future.
