On Thursday 16th October 2023, Businessman Haruna Ssentongo and Masaka City Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Hood Hussein collided on a plot of land in Munyonyo.
According to RCC Hood Hussein, the land which Haruna has fenced belonged to his wife, Shamim Namusisi though, Haruna wants to forcefully own it.
"Our plot of land is next to his small plot in Lake Victoria, he wasn't. His motive and interest in my wife's land is that he can't utilize his land coz it is in water, therefore, he wants to take over our land to encroach on Lake Victoria"- Hood said.
Hood further claims Haruna has always frustrated his wife pushing her to sell off the plot but it looks like the lady is not willing to sell it off.
"It was last year during the organization of my introduction ceremony, (nica), Huruna approached me claiming he was interested in buying my wife's land at any price. Little did I know that Haruna had attempted to convince my wife and had failed. When I got home, I also asked my wife if at all she wanted money out of her land, unfortunately, my wife turned down the proposal"-Hood explained.
He further said that Haruna has no single document or land title proving that he owns this plot of land but rather uses impunity and force to grab it.
"In May 2022, during my introduction meeting, Haruna requested to have a private meeting, I went along with my wife to meet him. He contributed Five million shillings 5,000,000/- towards our introduction ceremony. However, he still requested us to sell him the land. This time round, my wife accepted and asked for Three hundred million shillings (300). Haruna went to his car and picked a bag of money, the money was amounting to Thirty million shillings (30)"-Hood.
At this juncture, Hood claims that the wife had opted to reject the 3om, though Huruna told them that this was a commitment fee.
" He gave us the 30m as a commitment and told us that incase he fails to raise 300m, we even take his 30m. After 3 months elapsing, I and my wife called Haruna to collect his 3om since he had failed to raise the balance but he refused. The funny part of it is that we did not even make any agreement or sign anywhere to acknowledge that we had received money from him. We are not cheaters, therefore let him collect his money because we no more want to sell the land"- Hood.
According to Hood, he claims Haruna has no money but wants to use force by fencing off the land.
