Mbale City Land Board Accused of Irregularities & Land Grabbing.

Mbale City residents have raised several complaints regarding irregularities in the newly created City land board, which includes land grabbing.

We learned about the same stories in Mbale city, as the norm of land grabbing and repression in Uganda, news reaching us indicates that the Mbale city land board Committee has become one of the land grabbers and dispossessed at the behest of prominent politicians and businessmen.

It is alleged that the Mbele City land board uses the names of powerful individuals to force Land evictions.

We were able to follow up on the story of the land behind the city council head offices, which belongs to a Christian organization (Church) called Jehovah Healing Center Church, owned by pastor David Mugalu.

According to Pastor Mugalu, they've owned this land for more than 10 years.

It has been alleged that the land is now being allocated to the wife of one of the Army Generals by the City land board, a source has it that the lady wants the church evicted, and the city authorities also want to share part of the land among themselves.

It has been established that the Lands Office is now using powerful people to grab land from the residents. 

The complainants called upon concerned Authorities to act.

Study shows that land grabbing in the country is at high stake and has made the NRM  government lose support and are considered a corrupt system. 

Many have been left homeless, and people with their property are tortured and left with nothing by corrupt and selfish technocrats. 

While responding to the allegations, Wanyoto Paul Mugoya, the chairman of Mbale City Land Board on behalf of the board denied involvement in land grabbing. 

Other board members include:- Suleiman Mutakuwa Waiswa, Sinah Mafuko, and Emmanuel Natseli.
