The parliament of Uganda has lauded Speaker Anita Among for initiating Uganda's joint East Africa Pamoja Bid to host the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2027.
While chairing today's plenary sitting, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa said Speaker Among "played a very critical role in starting the Pamoja bid."
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
On the 15th of July 2022, speaker Among hosted the CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, who was in the country for a two-day working visit.
During the meeting with Dr. Motsepe at her office, Speaker Among initiated the idea of Uganda hosting AFCON in 2027.

Indeed, Dr. Motsepe encouraged the Speaker to pursue the bid for the good of sports tourism in the country.
