Schools, A Health Center, Crops & 84 Houses Destroyed by a hailstorm in Mityana.

Two schools, a health center, 84 houses, and 100s of acres of crop have been destroyed by heavy rains and hailstorms that ravaged Nakibanga Ward in Mityana municipality-Mityana District.

The 1hour downpour happened on Sunday 1st October 2023. 

This has left hundreds of locals stranded without shelter and other basic needs.

The affected residents depend on agriculture as a source of livelihood.

Yesterday afternoon, Joyce Bagala, the area Woman Member of parliament together with fellow political and religious leaders from Mityana Municipality, visited Nakibanga to assess the damage caused by the heavy rains and also commiserate with the locals whose houses and crops were destroyed.

Bagala offered some food items, maize seeds and some financial assistance as emergency relief. 

The Bishop of Mityana Diocese in the Church of Uganda, the Rt.Rev Dr James Bukomeko also offered some financial assistance.
