Umukuka dispute: Bugisu parliamentary caucus calls for reconciliation in INZU.

The Member of Parliament for Bungokho Central in Mbale District, Hon. Richard Wanda asked the Bukuka Rival Faction to reconcile and work together with the current Umukuuka, Mr Jude Mike Mudoma.

Wanda advised them to withdraw all cases they filed against Mr. Mudoma.

A rival faction, one affiliated to Mr. John Amram Wagabyalire wants the court to block the Inauguration of Mr. Mudoma who was approved by government of Uganda.

Fresh succession disputes in the leadership of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, Inzu Ya Masaaba (IYM) erupted following the death of the second Umukuuka, Sir Bob Mushikori who succumbed to a diabetes-related illness from his home in Mbale.

Wanda who is also the Chairperson Bugisu Parliamentary caucus while speaking during the visit of Mr Mudoma at Bungokho Sub-County called upon Bamasaba to stop fighting.

Mr. Mudoma is currently on his tour in the Bugisu Sub-region ahead of his inauguration ceremony slated for this month at the Mutoto cultural site.

"If we continue fighting as Bagisu we shall remain behind in terms of developments. We are fighting useless wars that can't develop us," Mr Wanda said.

The clans in Inda ya Wanale include the Mufumbo clan, Musoba clan, Sano clan, Mukonde, Wankokho clan, and others.

Mr. Wanda revealed that Bugisu  MPs are willing and ready to work with Mr Mudoma-the Umukuuka III.

“As MPs we have been doing everything to see that Bukuuka settles, with various meetings,”said.

The inauguration ceremony for the new Umukuuka is slated for October 14, 2023.
