Mao Highlights key issues that should be considered as the country seeks for a national dialogue.

The party president for democratic party in Uganda Hon. Nobert Mao has urged the opposition parties and government to put the Buganda, Karamoja, Northern Uganda and Rwenzururu questions as top priority if National dialogue is to be successfully conducted which will give birth to a new Uganda. He revealed this today while addressing journalists at their party headquarters at City House in Kampala.

According to Mao much of the time, the opposition is mainly focussing on less relevant issues leaving out the most sensitive issues that are oppressing Ugandans at large.

“buganda question, Rwenzori question, Northern question and Karamoja question those are the four questions and the answer is simple all these must be part of the national dialogue process. These are what I call the regional questions so that one package of the questions.” He said

He also highlighted the issue of the transnational communities as another key factor that must be focused on as the country prepares for the National dialogue.

“you have transnational communities those who are across other countries, I won’t eraborate you have Sami’s people the Samia they woke up one day and they were told that “towa kitambulisho” you are now entering Kenya, Kenya? but my uncle is just there I can even see him, so we have issues of transnational communities the Acholis are there, the majorities are in Sudan then you have Bakonjos and so on.” Mao revealed

Mao further pointed out the role of the Military in the politics of Uganda as another key factor that should be discussed in the much anticipated national dialogue between government and the opposition political parties.

“the role of the military is the fact that nobody can ignore in Uganda. The army is with us and their interest in parliament are national politics now needs to be discussed as part of the national dialogue. We can nolonger talk empty theories “tetwagala bajjaasi mubyabufuzi” you can say that until Jesus Christ comes back but that must be on the agenda of the national dialogue. Not whether the army should either have a role in politics, but what role the army should have in politics.” Said the Dp president

He also noted out the politics of religion and ethnicity, the need to conduct a free and fair elections, the land and natural resources question, social services question forexample the potholes currently in the city, the youths question among other key issues.

He also lashed out at his critics regarding his memorandum of understanding he signed with H.E the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, something which raised concerns among the Dp members which forced many to sideline with him.

“i as Nobert Mao has never felt the increnation to leave my party, not even once and i will never leave my party. I will always be a democrat until my coffin is lowered in the grave with a green cloth on it. Because i haven’t seen a better party to be honest, I can coperate with NRM but i’ve not found any increnation to say i now leave DP and join another party.” Said Mao

“DP needs to do something differently as usual to lead the way it was not easy and it’s the first time president Museveni has ever signed any political agreement with a civilian. He always signs with armed groups but now people want to reduce what we did to Ugandans understand as “okulya” that this is about eating. Am not a stranded person I think I still have a market in God’s world.” He added
