The Uganda police force's department of music dance and drama were rewarded with the accolade of the best music video of the year at the Hipipo music awards that took place last Friday, 17th November, at the opulent Kampala Serena Hotel. The music video is entitled “Mambo bado”
This was confirmed by the deputy police spokesperson Nabakka Claire while addressing the media today at their headquarters in Naguru.
"The Uganda police force department of music dance and drama was nominated in the Hipipo music awards in 3 categories. One was the Africa super video, east Africa super video and video of the year. We would like to inform all of you our dear fans and the public that the music video of our song, that was played by the Uganda police band titled “Mambo bado” won the award of video of the year. “ Nabakka revealed.

Claire also noted some of the big names from the local music industries that their police department of music, dance and drama had to overcome inorder to be crowned the winners of the special music accolade at this year's HiPipo awards.
"we would like to inform you that, the competing video songs were from the following artists of Kenzo, David Lutalo, Sheeba, Azawi, Rema Namakula and Victor Kamenyo. So you can see the competition we had to go through to win this accolade.” Said Nabakka.
She also thanked Ugandans across the country for their massive support especially from the time the music video was nominated.
"Not to leave the media behind I know you’re among those ones who overwhelmingly voted for us, we do thank you for that and please continue voting for us. The Uganda police force would like to thank all our fans, all the music lovers, friends and all well-wishers for having overwhelmingly voted for the police music video “Mambo bado” as as the best music video of the year. “ she stressed.
Meanwhile the administrator of the police band and a musician Ojobira Samuel commonly know by his stage name as “afande OJ” also expressed his views regarding the accolade.
"as you can see it's the first time it's happening and this shows we're really dedicated and committed to promoting talents not only within the force but also with our colleagues who are out of the force.” Said OJ
"I would wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the Hipipo music awards and it's leadership that was able to listen to the people who requested that the Uganda police be recognised due to the great work we are exhibiting in the music industry.” He added
Other winners of the night at the HiPipo music awards included Eddy Kenzo who was crowned both as the best Male and Artist of the year, Sheeba Karungi was awarded as the best female Artist, Achii by diamond platinumz f.t Koffi Olamide was voted as the best African video, Kika Buka by Sheebah was voted as the best East Africa Super Video among other accolades.
