UPC Urges parents to increase monitoring of students as they report back for the holidays.

       Arach Sharon - UPC Spokesperson

UPC leadership has called upon parents and guardians to exercise high levels of vigilance in relation to safety of their children who will be returning home for the Third term holidays. This has been revealed by the party spokesperson Arach Oyat Sharon during their weekly press briefing at their party headquarters in Kampala earlier today.

According to Arach, many young children both girls and boys are usually exposed to indiscipline behaviour that include fornication, gambling among others during the holidays which have heavily contributed to the high rate of school dropouts in the country.

“To girl child, holidays are full of promises and temptations. A high degree of maturity and discipline is expected of the girl child. Failure to respect such personal values towards life, leads to early child pregnancies, which complicates continuing with education.” Arach said

“For the boy child, some get to take over with part time jobs during holidays and find it hard to go back to school. They at times get negative influences from the society at this stage.” She added

It’s upon this background that she has come out to urge all parents and guardians countrywide to increase vigilance if such incidents are to be prevented.

“UPC is fully aware of all these related challenges for our children during holidays and therefore, urges parents and guardians to take a keen interest in monitoring and shaping the behavior of our children while at home. This requires commitment, sacrifice and care at both family and society levels. These are our future leaders who ought to be well moulded.” Said the UPC spokesperson

She has also congratulated the UACE, UCE and Primary seven candidates who have completed the ongoing Uganda national examination board examinations and urged them to enjoy their holidays responsibly.

At the same juncture, Arach on behalf of the Uganda people’s Congress party, has joined the rest of the country in eulogising the death of  Hon. Joyce Mpanga, with a heart-felt message to her family members.

“UPC salutes Hon. Joyce Mpanga for such grand contributions in the field of education, women affairs and politics. Her legacy is worth emulating by all especially the young generation who need such rich experience of life. We send our heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the late Hon. Joyce Mpanga.” She stated

Mpanga, who breathed her last on November 19th, 2023 at Kampala Hospital, will be laid to rest on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at her ancestral home in Maya, Wakiso district. Government granted her an official burial.
