Forum for democratic change(FDC) opposition political party have today kicked off preparations for tomorrow’s National Council Meeting with prayers and Christmas carols which are being held at their party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
The meeting will be the first of its kind since the new executive members were elected into various positions amidst fights between the group in Najjanankumbi and those at Katonga road.
Speaking to members of the press today at the party headquarters in Najjanankumbi Hon. Centenary Robert the party vice president for western region said the prayers are aimed at paving way for tomorrow’s big event.
“we are doing this ahead of National council which will be tomorrow now that we had an opportunity to have a representation from the entire country, we found it prudent to start with the Christmas carols as a precursor to tomorrow’s meeting under the theme overcoming the storm and focusing on party unity and growth.” Said Centenary
At the same juncture, he also lashed out at the faction at Katongo road which is being led by Dr. Kiiza Besigye
“we also make a clarion call to our colleagues who are still disray to come back home because whatever it is that they expected out there seems not to be forthcoming and there is no reason for you to continue following what is not falling in place. Therefore we don’t want you and ourselves to begin the year 2024 on a bad note.” He said
Centenary says their main objective as the newly elected leadership is to open up a new chapter where they will be focusing more on reconciliation, unity and party building.
“whoever is out there i can authoritatively speak as the vice chairperson of the party, that the doors and windows of the party are open including the fence for those who jump over fences for you to come back home. We shall allow you to come through any exit that you so wish and we shall be openly welcoming you with open hands.” Said Centenary
The FDC National Council consists of the party district chairpersons, all National Executive Committee Members, Members of Parliament, three Members representing Elders Council and three Members representing the Youth league.
