FDC to Identifies Potential Candidates for 2026 Elections, Emphasizes Seriousness in Selection Process.
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), a prominent opposition party in Uganda, is actively scouting individuals for various positions in the upcoming 2026 elections, ranging from local council roles to top leadership positions.
Honorable Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the General Secretary of the FDC party, disclosed that this initiative aims to pinpoint capable, reasoned, strong, and well-regarded candidates who can effectively represent the people and rally support for the party in their respective areas.
Mafabi stressed the importance of early declarations from serving leaders, underlining the need for seriousness in the selection process.
He cautioned that the party will not entertain candidates lacking commitment or sincerity. During a recent announcement, he revealed that FDC's National Executive Council was elected on October 6, 2023, at their headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
In response to circulating rumors from the Katonga group, Mafabi clarified that Jack Sabiiti holds the position of party chairman, refuting claims that Waswa Birigwa is the chairman.
He urged the media to verify information before reporting to ensure accuracy and prevent the spread of misleading news among the Ugandans.
Notably, Honorable Nathan Nandala Mafabi, expressing his commitment to the party's cause, confirmed that if entrusted with the position of party president in 2026, he would represent FDC members fearlessly.
This information was disclosed during a meeting with FDC leaders in the Elgon Region at the Mountain Inn Hotel in Mbale City yesterday the the 19th of December 2023.
