Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has this morning addressed High Commissioners and other delegates ahead of the upcoming #CSPOC2024 slated to take place from 03 to 06 January 2024 at the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort.
This is a conference of all Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth countries.
The conference aims to maintain, foster and encourage impartiality and fairness on the part of the Speakers and Presiding Officers of Parliaments, and promote knowledge and understanding of parliamentary democracy.
The 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers of the Commonwealth (#CSPOC2024) will focus on topics to include;
▶️Environment
▶️Climate Change
▶️Roles of Parliaments
▶️Youth and Gender Sensitivity &
▶️Security measures for Parliamentarians.
Hosting CSPOC will come with immense benefits for Uganda such as;
▪️Increased private visits to tourist attractions around the country which will increase incomes of sector players;
▪️Bilateral and multilateral meetings will strengthen ties between parliaments of the Commonwealth;
▪️Foster cooperation, alliances and strengthen diplomatic ties with sisterly Commonwealth countries;
▪️Deepen parliamentary diplomacy and augment Uganda's role in Commonwealth parliamentary collaborations and presenting opportunities to share expertise;
▪️Delegates and accompanying persons and other officials will create business and entrepreneurial linkages to cement trade relations with Uganda; and
▪️Global media coverage of #CSPOC2024 will publicise Uganda resulting in trickle down effects.
