The Chief executive officer and founder of Keddi foundation a non government organisation in Uganda Hon. Keddi Steven Zuluba, has been crowned as the best humanitarian person of the year by the National Youth parliament with 820 votes ahead of his runner-up Mama phina who emerged with a total of 752 votes.
Keddi managed to vanguish past the likes of Uganda’s prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja(746), Zari Hassan(300), mama phina(752), millionaire Hamis Kigunddu(570), sudir Ruparelia(463) and the National unity party president Robert Sentamu(619)
Speaking at the awarding event today at Hotel Africana in Kampala, Hon. Keddi Steven thanked the Youth parliament for the recognition of the humanitarian works he and his foundation are continuing to render out to the less privileged and disgruntled communities across the country.
"i want to take this opportunity to thank Uganda youth parliament and Pan-African youth parliament for the great recognition they have given to me and the foundation of Keddi. I humbly accept and receive my award or our award, thank you so much we receive it with honour, humility and humbleness.” Keddi joyously stated
He also utilised the opportunity to thank the entire team of Keddi foundation who have been working resiliently to ensure that the foundation achieves its main objectives of serving human, where they have managed to bring back the lost hope in the lives of the less privileged citizens.
"I dedicate this award to all of you Keddi foundation team, am proud of you, i love you, i respect you, i honour you, i celebrate you. Thank you so much.” Said Keddi
During the handing over of the award, the Chairperson of the Uganda youth parliament, Mr. Briton Kiwanuka revealed how Hon. Keddi Steven has now become an inspiration to most of the young people across the country including the East African region as a whole because of his love for humanity.“He's one of the young people infact in the whole of East Africa, who has showed that it is true that a young man can do something great. It is not about the money, it's not about the age and everything, when you look at most the population Keddi is helping, they're mostly young people and that's why we come in as the Youth Parliament.” Briton explained
The chairperson of the Uganda youths parliament said they used both the online platform and the physical ground to carry out the survey exercise, where they had 20 people from online and 40 from the physical ground. The survey was conducted until December 20th, with the final results disclosing Keddi as the winner ahead of the other prominent figures.
Hon. Keddi thanked the government of Uganda especially the president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, for giving him the opportunity to freely serve humanity without any interferences amidst the many challenges and threats aiming towards him, some of which are from the political background.
He also rallied the youths out there not to lose hope in the fight to achieve the best for their youthful age, noting that one bad day in life cannot define their future.
“someone who is out there just have a dream and carry on, the suffering isn't permanent but it's just temporary. Tomorrow you will be somebody, you will be a great leader, and you will be the one to change the society, so don't give up and we encourage you to love your government, your family, your self and keep pushing." Keddi revealed
At the same juncture, the Uganda youth parliament also endorsed Hon. Keddi Steven for member of parliament representing Butebo constituency in the forth coming general elections, where they've further pledged to stand behind him for the position of the Minister for youths in parliament as well.
Its upon the above context that he pledged to work closely with the Uganda youth parliament to ensure that they achieve their intended plans of constructing the youth parliament which will act as their base.“Since you have recognised us, and me as keddi I promise we are going to work with you to support you in any capacity just reach to us. It's my pleasure that we've already got the investor who is willing to build a youth parliament. we need the land, so just identify it we shall make sure that we contribute and we build a parliament for the youths or the headquarters.” Keddi pledged
He further promised to continue working relentlessly to ensure that the key issues affecting the youths of Uganda are addressed in the house, if the people of Butebo vote him as their area representative come 2026.
