Uganda People's Congress, (UPC) has declared Sarah Aguti Nyangori as the official party flag bearer for the Dokolo Woman MP seat.

The two other candidates Josephine Acen Okullu and Anna Okwir stepped down in her favour after a harmonization meeting with UPC's top leadership.

The district conference that elected her was held at Dokolo Catholic Parish.

The By-elections has gained momentum with over 7 candidates who have shown interest.

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party last week unveiled Dr. Rosemary Alwoc, daughter to deceased Dokolo woman MP Cecilia Ogwal, as their Flagbearer in the forthcoming Dokolo District Woman MP By-election.

Dr. Alwoc was unveiled as the Flag bearer on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, to replace her deceased mother Cecilia Ogwal.

According to FDC, the decision was reached following discussions with party leaders and family members of the late Cecilia Ogwal. The party adds that they reached consensus among their members not to hold primaries, but to give the flag to the deceased’s daughter.

NRM frontend the defeated 2021 flag bearer, Janet Adong Elau who had more 3 competitors.

The three also rejected to step down indicating that they will also be running as independent candidates, though NRM leaning.
