Fiancé Steals from Bride After 'Kukyala' Ceremony, Police speaks out

Kampala, (UG):- A Ugandan family celebrating a Kukyala (the traditional pre-marriage ceremony) of their daughter was thrown into a nightmare after their in-law robbed their daughter clean in the aftermath of the function.

The boyfriend, Timothy Lukyamyuzi, is currently on the run with the police at Kanyanya Division investigating the case and hunting for him from his hideouts.

This website understands that the family eagerly organized a colourful and memorable Kukyala ceremony after their sister’s boyfriend expressed his intention to visit their home.

With anticipation and happiness, they welcomed Lukyamyuzi and his family members, overlooking the modest offerings brought for the occasion. However, a harrowing ordeal followed that shattered their trust and left them reeling.

Tragically, the next day unfolded as a nightmare when the sister returned from work to discover that her apartment had been ransacked. Lukyamuzi, whom they had welcomed into their home with open arms, had orchestrated a callous betrayal and brought a lorry to haul away all her valuable possessions, including her hard-earned savings.

The boyfriend remains elusive, leaving the family grappling with shock, anger, and a profound sense of betrayal, but the police assured of having him smoked out from wherever he’s hiding and brought him to the books of justice.

POLICE STATEMENT.

Upon investigation, it was determined that during February 2024, Ms. Winnie left their shared residence due to domestic issues and sought refuge at her sister's place, Nakasita Evelyn, in Namavundu Gayaza, Wakiso District. According to Ms. Winnie, on February 3rd, 2024, around 1 PM, she received a call from Mr. Timothy informing her that he had relocated their belongings to an undisclosed location following an eviction notice from their landlord. Despite attempts to reach Mr. Timothy by phone, he was unreachable, prompting her to report the incident to the police as a case of domestic violence and theft. Mr. Timothy voluntarily presented himself to the police and provided his statement, denying any intention of theft. He explained that he had transferred the belongings to his sister's workplace for safekeeping while he searched for alternative housing. Subsequently, the missing items were recovered at his sister's workplace with the assistance of the police. Both parties have agreed to separate their belongings temporarily as they work towards resolving their domestic issues amicably. ASP Deputy Public Relations officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.
