KMP police divisions crack down rackets behind thefts during rush hours especially on the northern by-pass.

Police divisions in Kampala metropolitan carried out operations against the hardcore criminal gang members that target inocent citizens while on their way back home during rush hours, where they apprehended over 40 suspects in the process.

According to the Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango the operation was basically targeting criminals that snatch phones and bags during rush hours.

 “we mostly targeted bars and pool table joints where they gather before timing the time for traffic jam." Onyango stated

Onyango says, their police in Nateete carried out an operation in the areas of Busega, kabale and kibumbiro and the focused in the areas where they suspected criminals that rob people along the express Highway hide before going to rob citizens.

“here they managed to arrest 14 suspects who are currently detained at Nateete police station” Onyango said

He adds that the police in Wakiso also carried out the same operation in the areas of Wakiso Town Council, Mpuuga cell, Mpuuga Ward and the surrounding areas where they targeted the criminals who rob people who go back home late from their daily work.

“From the Wakiso operations we managed to arrest 34 suspects who were in possession with exhibits like Narcotics, had knives used for stabing their victims.” Onyango revealed

He says the suspects will be subjected to screening from where they will be arraigned before the courts of law.
