Why Businessman, Haruna Ssentongo was arrested by State House land officials on accusations of land grabbing.

On the 23rd of December 2023, City Tycoon, Haruna  Ssentongo Kigudde survived spending festive season in jail after he was handcuffed over accusations of grabbing land.

The land located in Munyonyo belongs to Shamim Awaali Namusisi, wife to Masaka City Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Hudu Hussien.

It has been established that the land that was fenced off belongs to Shamim Awaali Namusisi, the female youth lord councilor for KCCA, and the 2nd wife to Maska City RCC Hood Hussein. 

Haruna is a brother to City Businessman, Hamis Kiggundu, commonly known as Ham, who is also battling cases of grabbing land on Lake Victoria shores.

Records indicated that Huruna has land titles on land located in Lake Victoria. 

What You Need to Know. 

Last year in May, Haruna approached Shamim and showed interest in buying her land which was located in Munyonyo.

According to Shamim, she was not willing to sell off her land not till when Haruna bypassed the deal to Hudu Hussein, her husband.

In 2022, at Fairway Hotel in Kampala, Haruna met with Hudu & Shamim, during this meeting, Shimim revealed that he would give him the plot of land at Three hundred million shillings (300), unfortunately, Haruna had only 30 million cash on him. 

Shamim claims that she rejected the Thirty Million shillings and walked away, leaving Haruna and Hudu still stranded with the cash.

After a few hours, Haruna also left the venue & abandoned the 30m, according to Haruna, the 30m was just a commitment fee.

It was discovered that Hood Hussein, took the 30m to their home & kept it since they had no written agreement. 

After, a couple of months, Haruna asked to meet Shamim & Hudu, upon meeting them, Haruna picked a bag that had one hundred million (100) from his car to pay Shamim, which she rejected telling him that unless it was 300m cash money, he wouldn't be sold the plot of land.

Haruna got pieced off and drove away, the next day, Shamim called Haruna and told him to collect his 30m commitment fee since she was no longer interested in selling off her land.

Shamim alleges that Haruna deliberately refused to collect the money and opted to use force, threats, and impunity to grab the plot of land. 

It was later discovered that Haruna had acquired a plot of land next to that of Shamim, unfortunately, this plot of land is in Lake Victoria.

In November last year, Haruna went & forcefully fenced off the land including the shores of the Lake under the watch of the Uganda Police.

This prompted Hudu and the wife to file a case against the City Businessman, who was later arrested by State House lands officials but he was discharged on a condition. 

Inside sources informed us that Haruna promised never to put any development or interfere with shamim's said land.
