Court Bans Media In The Ongoing PR. Kayanja's Sodomy Case.

 


On Friday, 6th April 2024, the grade one magistrate at Mwanga II court in Mengo Issued a directive with immediate effect, restricting/Banning the media houses from covering the ongoing case, where Pastor Robert Kayanja is being accused of sodomizing over 10 young men.

The court judge also issued a strong warning, prohibiting all pastors in Uganda from making comments or submissions in the ongoing Pr. Robert Kayanja's Sodomy case.

It should be noted that PR. Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Center in Kampala is battling cases of Sodomy at Mwanga Court, in Mengo.

Why Court Banned Media

According to the judge, the media is spinning and twisting this case, which has resulted in a public debate. 

The judge also claims that this case has attracted different pastors, who are making unnecessary comments and judgments before yet this is illegal.

He further says that other media houses have opted to expose the faces of the victim who alleged that they we Sodomized, which put their lives in danger.

The judge also showed concern towards a few media houses who have opted to write contrary to what is being discussed in the ongoing case. 

He finally noted that individuals, most especially TikTok, YouTube, and other online content creators are using the chance to electronically generate harmful stories.

What You Need to Know: 

Earlier last year, a group of more than 10 men stormed Rubaga Miracle Center church in Rubaga demanding money from Paster Kayanja, claiming they had been sodomized by him.

Security intercepted and all of them were arrested and appeared before court, which remanded them to date.

A case of trespass was filed against them by Paster Kayanja.

In August, the DPP filed statements from the accused who also claimed they had gone to demand pay from PR. kayanja for sodomizing them.
