Speaker Among Mourns MP Katuntu's Brother

Speaker of Parliament Anita Among on Thursday attended the burial of Mr Ramathan Waiswa, the brother of MP Abdu Katuntu (INDEP., Bugweri County).

Mr Waiswa and his driver, Mr Ronald Waiswa met their tragic death in a road accident along Pallisa-Kumi Road on Wednesday.

He was working with the law firm, Katuntu and Co. Advocates.

Speaking to the mourners at the funeral service in Bugweri, Speaker Among preached true love, togetherness and friendship, which has defined the 11th Parliament.

"We condole with Hon Katuntu and his family upon this loss...Despite our different political families, we stand together during such times and we know when and where to do politics without intimidation," Among said.

She described Katuntu as an amiable and calm politician, a rare attribute that has earned him respect and many friends most of whom turned up for the send-off of his late brother.

"The character of Hon. Katuntu doesn't show political parties, he is a distinguished national figure...He was my Chairperson while we were in COSASE and I have never seen a calm, reliable and committed person like Hon. Katuntu," Among said.

Citing the Bible of Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 reminds us that there is a time to be born and a time to die, Speaker Among urged the bereaved family to remain strong and put all their trust in God, saying, "His timing is never ours."

Mr Waiswa was laid to rest at his ancestral home in Butende Village, Buyanga Sub-County, Bugweri District.
