The Deputy press secretary, Mr. Faruk Kirunda has advised managers to always be authentic and accurate while breaking the news.
This is as a result of a Fake Document That surfaced yesterday in the News, indicating that President M7 had written to the Attorney General in regards to the "SERVICE AWARDS TO PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSIONERS" dated May 3, 2024.
The fake document which surfaced, showed that President M7 was seeking guidance from The AG as to why parliament paid over 1.7bn to Commissioners.
Below is Kirundo's statement to News Managers/Editors:-
Good after News Managers,
Please, note that the PPU statement issued earlier today clarifying the letter purportedly written by H.E the President to the Hon. Attorney General with the subject: "SERVICE AWARDS TO PARLIAMENTARY COMMISSIONERS" dated May 3, 2024, still stands. Just to confirm; that letter is forged and is the work of self-seekers.
Some editors reached out last evening and we advised them to await our confirmation of the letter's status but they went on and published it. We understand the urgency to break stories but it's best to hold on for confirmation from authorities to avoid being misled. The inconvenience is, however, much regretted.
Thank you!
