Dr. Khanakwa tasks Namisindwa Youth to Embrace Sports for Good Health.

The head of department for resource mobilisation at Uganda Aids Commission (UAC) Dr. Khanakwa Sarah (PhD) has urged young people in Namisindwa District to embrace sports, saying it's not only an economic activity but also helps in preventing diseases.

“Sports help with our health. The more active you are, the more you avoid diseases that come with lack of exercise,” said Dr. Khanakwa on sunday evening while attending a football match between Lwakhakha United and Kaboyi fc in Namisindwa District.

Experts say regular physical activity helps prevent and treat non communicable diseases (NCDs) such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and breast and colon cancer.

Khanakwa further advised the youth to use their time and talents in sports development since it's an economic activity, adding that once you embrace sports as a profession.

you can earn a decent salary while also creating bonds and networks with those att he international level. Sports is also a unifying factor as it brings people together irrespective of race or political affiliation." Dr. Khanakwa said.
