The National coordinator of Government’s Emyooga programme Rita Namuwenge has declared her intentions to vie for the Mbale City Woman Parliamentary position in the 2026 general elections.
Namuwenge made the declaration on Monday while closing a one-week camp for scouts at Namatala Primary School in Namatala ward, Industrial City Division in Mbale City.
According to Namuwenge, once elected she will work towards changing the face of Mbale City by lobbying for improved infrastructure and economic empowerment of women and youth to boost household income.
She says that as the national Emyooga coordinator, she has encouraged many women and youth to form groups and benefit from government funding.
She promised to support the scouts on the initiative to acquire a brass band the project launched by Mbale city scouts the chief Commissioner Madam Alice Nyinamahoro being the chief guest on 6/7/2024.
Soon I am going to have a meeting with the Mbale city Executive to see how we can mobilise for the Band.
It should be noted that the current Mbale City Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Connie Galiwango threatened to step down in the furth coming election after serving four terms.
