Nandala, Amuriat paint Kases Blue, Over 200 NRM Supporters Defect to FDC

Over 200 supporters of the NRM party in Kasese District defected to the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), drawn by the gospel of truth spread by opposition party leaders.

The converts were received by the Kasese FDC leadership, led by District Woman MP Florence Kabugho, and welcomed by the party Secretary General, who handed them over to the party President, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, in the presence of other FDC supporters.

This development occurred on Saturday during the launch of the party's massive electronic membership registration in the Rwenzori Sub-Region at Kilembe Quarters Play Grounds.

FDC Secretary General Nathan Nandala Mafabi commended the Kasese district FDC leadership for their mobilization efforts, making the event successful. "We have received over 200 NRM party members; this is a great achievement," he said.

Mafabi urged the people of Kasese Municipality to re-elect Robert Centenary in the 2026 general elections, assuring them of the party's full support.

Nandala emphasized the importance of unity within the party. He stated that the FDC is one with its headquarters in Najjanankumbi, and those unwilling to reconcile are not members of the party.

FDC President Patrick Oboi Amuriat appreciated the people of the Rwenzururu Kingdom for their resilience despite military intimidation and the killing of over 100 people, but managed to send three candidates to parliament.

Amuriat criticized president Museveni for the decline of the Kilembe mines, which used to build houses for the people, but now have killed all jobs and income in the region.

Oboi stated that, the mines are now just a shadow of their former selves, and if Museveni has not sold them already, he is going to. Amuriat claimed that the government wanted to keep the people poor for political dominance.

He also expressed skepticism about the promised upgrade of Kasese Airfield to an international airport, the development of Katwe Salt Factory, and unresolved land wrangles, for which the government has failed to find a lasting solution since 2006.

"Come 2026, I urge all of you to vote massively and eliminate Museveni and his government from power," Amuriat concluded.
