Amus College School is set to host the East African School Sports Championships under the Federation of East Africa School Sports Associations (FEASSA) from August 16th to 27th, 2024.
The preparations for the event are well underway, with five fields, including the main stadium, now ready for the competitions.
The main stadium boasts a standard pitch measuring 105x68 meters, comparable to those used by top European football clubs such as Real Madrid, Barcelona, AC Milan, and Manchester United.
The stadium features a pavilion with a seating capacity of over 30,000, including 1,000 VIP seats.
In addition to football, the stadium will also host athletics and basketball events on its well-maintained courts.
Teams from across East Africa will be participating, including schools from Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, South Sudan, and Uganda.
Uganda’s contingent will be led by Amus College School, Bukedea Comprehensive School, St. Mary’s Kitende, and St. Julian, the defending champions in just concluded Uganda boys games.
Other football venues include the Bukedea Comprehensive Field, School of Hygiene Field, and Mbale City Stadium.
Additional sports will be held at Mbale Cricket Ground, Mbale School of Health Sciences, and local rugby grounds.
Amus College School, located in Bukedea District Teso land, Eastern Uganda, is proud to be the first school in the country to feature a standard turf pitch alongside four natural grass fields.
While Amus College School is excited to host the event, Mbale City is expected to be the primary beneficiary of this historic occasion, which marks the first time the region has hosted such a large-scale sporting event.
