Uganda’s National Examination Board – UNEB has released the official timetable for the 2024 national examinations for the award of the Primary Leaving Certificate, the Uganda Certificate and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UCE & UACE).
According to the timetable released on Monday at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala, the 2024 national examinations for both the new curriculum (first of its kind) and transitional examinations (from last year) will start on Friday, October 11, with the briefing of S.4 candidates.
On Monday, October 14, the candidates will write their first examination paper and the final paper on November 15.
Similarly, the briefing for primary leaving examination (PLE) candidates and the Uganda advanced certificate of education (UACE) for S.6 candidates will take place on November 4 and 8th November respectively.
PLE candidates will write their papers on November 6 and 7 while UACE will write theirs starting November 11 to December 7, 2024.
“Unlike in the past when we had three sets of examinations, Uneb will this time round conduct four examinations; the UCE examinations based on the new curriculum and the UCR based on the old curriculum. Others are PLE and UACE,” UNEB Executive Director Mr Dan Odongo told journalists during a press conference at Uganda Media Centre in Kampala.
UNEB statistics indicate that over 1.3 million candidates have registered for the four sets of examinations, an increase of 7.8 per cent from last year’s candidature.
798, 763 of these are PLE candidates, 379,620 are UCE and 142,017 are UACE candidates.
