The ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, has expressed concerns over the absence of National Standards for the Establishment and Management of Childcare Facilities for Children below 3 years in the country.
Opening high-level dialogue on childcare and women entrepreneurs on 15th at Bugolobi in Kampala, minister Betty Amongi pledged total commitment to ensure that these are in place to guide investments and interventions and they have already started.
“By providing access to childcare services to women entrepreneurs, we remove one of the barriers to their competitiveness, giving them the freedom to identify new markets, innovate, and build networks that fuel business growth,” she says.
She added that this approach not only enhances their entrepreneurial potential but also fosters a more inclusive and dynamic business environment.
She says the government will build a critical mass of more like-minded, result focussed and strategic partners to implement the legal, policy and practice environment for caring for children under the age of 3 years.
