Tooro Kingdom & Fort Portal Leaders Join Forces for Women’s Empowerment through GROW Project.

Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Owek. Kyingi Stephen Amotti and Fort Portal Resident City Commissioner Stanley Bayole are driving a major initiative aimed at empowering women through the GROW project. The project focuses on promoting sustainable agricultural practices and enhancing women’s economic opportunities in the Tooro region.

A workshop held at Nyaika Hotel, Fort Portal Tourism City, to train cultural and religious leaders on the GROW project. The event, which included the presence of all the RCC'd deputies, was aimed at equipping Tooro leaders with the knowledge to encourage and support women entrepreneurs in the region.

The GROW project, which focuses on crop and livestock farming, provides women with vital resources, training, and support, focusing on climate-resilient and high-yield techniques.

Bayole has begun mobilizing women across Fort Portal and neighboring communities, ensuring they participate in the initiative to improve their financial independence.

In his address, RCC Bayole emphasized the importance of empowering women in agriculture to boost household incomes and build a resilient agricultural community. "

Through this project, we aim to transform the lives of women in Tooro and build a strong economic foundation for the region ," Bayole stated.

Prime Minister Owek. Kyingi Stephen Amotti highlighted the alignment of the project with Tooro Kingdom’s sustainable development goals, stressing the critical role of partnerships with organizations like the National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO). These partnerships will integrate advanced technologies and agrotourism opportunities into the project, creating additional revenue streams for the community.

.The GROW project is part of a broader national strategy to uplift rural communities, with thousands of women expected to benefit and contribute to strengthening the region’s economic resilience.
