Tycoon Ham Sets Up A Building On Top Of Nakivubo Channel, Under The Watch Of KCCA

It has been alleged that City businessman, Kiggundu Hamis, commonly known as Ham has erected a new building on top of Nakivubo Channel.

Speaking to a few vendors and the people working within & around Owino Market, we were informed that construction is done day and night.

A one Siraji Sserunjogi alleged that the construction is by the Ham Engineers, under the watch of Kampala Capital City  Authority  task force.

Looking at the demography of Kampala, the construction on this channel could block water (access to) the channel at a time when the city is fflooding.

Nakivubo Channel collects water from the areas of Nsambya, Muyenga, katwe, town center, industrial area, Namwongo and other parts of the city.

People working around the channel claim that security intimidates them whenever they attempt to capture video clips or take photos.

"If what he’s doing is approved and within the law, why are some people intimidating and confiscating the phones of tenants on his building who dare take videos of the construction works going on here? -vendors.

"After months of back and forth with folks in St. Balikuddembe market, including a major tiff with the Catholic Church, this site was sealed off and construction works done in the night"-vendors.
