Leaders from the Bugisu sub-region have unanimously endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the sole candidate for the 2026 general elections. The endorsement took place in Bulambuli District during a stakeholders’ and leaders’ meeting held alongside his Parish Development Model (PDM) tours.
The motion to support Museveni’s sole candidature was proposed by Mike Mukula, the NRM National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda, during his address to the leaders. Mukula praised the President for steering the country in line with voters’ expectations, explaining that Ugandans are not yet ready for a leadership change. He urged fellow leaders to support his call to confirm Museveni, who also serves as the NRM National Chairman, as the party's sole candidate.
In a show of support, all leaders present rose and wholesomely agreed with Mukula's proposal. Nambozo Florence, the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs, lauded the President for upholding democratic practices, which have allowed Ugandans to regularly elect their leaders every five years. She highlighted Museveni’s unmatched vision for the country, emphasizing that Uganda remains safe under his leadership.
Bwayo Emma, the Namisindwa Male Youth Councilor, commended the President’s initiatives to improve household incomes and create wealth, noting that these efforts will define his legacy. He credited Museveni with strengthening the economy, providing security, and ensuring access to affordable and free education for all Ugandans.
The President continues his wealth creation tour in the Bugisu sub-region. He is scheduled to hold a public rally at Maluku DA Grounds on Thursday and meet with the youth on Friday at Mbale Secondary School Grounds.
