Inside Speaker Among, Equity Bank Bosses Meeting

Yesterday, the speaker of of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among held a meeting with a team from Equity Bank Uganda.

The Team was led by their Managing Director Mr Gift Shoko. 

Speaker Among and the Bank bosses  discussion focused on the business environment and how Parliament can support the banking sector in making a greater impact on communities and their livelihoods.

In her remarks, the speaker thank the bank for their initiatives that have aided vulnerable communities and for the outstanding work they do in supporting our private sector.

She further asked EquityBank management to deepen financial inclusion by drafting local Ugandans into the banking sector. The Speaker said friendly financial packages should be extended to rural folks to broaden the money economy.

"Many Ugandans in the rural economy make some money, but the banking culture remains poor, because most financial institutions are reluctant to do business with them, thinning out financial inclusion"- Speaker Among.
