The stste stste Minister for Karamoja Affairs, who doubles as Sironko District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Florence Nambozo has urged the people of Sironko and all citizens at large, who are bove 18 years to fully participate in the ongoing General Update of the National Voters’ Register.
Minister Nambozo made a call on the 20th of January 2025, in her office in kampala while speaking to our reporter, Wanda Alfred.
The exercise, which began on Monday, January 20, 2025, was flagged off by the Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson, Justice Byabakama Mugenyi Simon, at Kamwokya II, Kampala Central Division, in Kampala City.
It will run daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, including weekends, and will conclude on February 10, 2025.
Speaking to our reporter, Nekesa emphasized the significance of this process, urging citizens to visit parish update stations and ensure their details are accurate In order to participate of the forthcoming 2026 General elections.
“In case we are looking for a free and fair election next year, lets go and update our details, make sure you know your polling station. I strongly encourage my people of Sironko all Ugandans at large to visit their respective update stations and participate in shaping the nation’s future,” She said.
She further called upon all, local, religious, cultural leaders to mobilize and sensitize the community about the ongoing activity in order to get better results.
It should be noted that Yesterday, the Electoral Commission (EC) commenced the exercise for the General Update of the National Voters Register, in preparation for the 2025-2026 General Elections.
The update exercise will run from the 20th January until 10th February 2025, at update stations as shall be publicised for each of the 10,717 parishes/wards throughout Uganda, starting from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm, on each of the appointed dates, including weekends.
